The birth and death of Tony Soprano

I’m surprised by how much the death of actor James Galdofini on June 19th affected me. I really did love the Sopranos and I think I – and perhaps a whole generation of men – really identified with his character. I went back and started reading more about this show – including this scene in the very first episode where Tony is sitting in Dr. Melfi’s office – with the camera framing him between the legs of this female statue – essentially giving birth to Tony Soprano. I just finished reading an analysis of the final episode – or essentially the death of Tony Soprano. It’s a fantastic (if slightly belabored) piece – you should read it: http://masterofsopranos.wordpress.com/
